DESCRIPTION:Elijah: a wild\, exciting tale of faith triumphing over despair
  \n\nA clash between the Old Testament prophet and the priests of Baal\, 
 an ancient god of thunder.\n\nMendelssohn’s thrilling choral masterpiece
  charts the struggle of the Israelites to endure hardship and find God.\n\
 nThe music\, with its turbulent orchestral overture\, vividly depicts temp
 est\, earthquake\, fire and whirlwind.  It also embraces the ‘still\, s
 mall voice’ of hope and consolation\, concluding with the haunting fugue
  ‘And then shall your Light break forth’.\n\nThis special performance\
 , sung in English and conducted by Darius Battiwalla\, combines the voices
  of the Halifax Choral Society and the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus\, togethe
