Try Us Out!

Every Monday in term time - 7:30 to 9:30pm
Carlton URC, Carlton Terrace, Halifax HX1 2AD

Halifax Choral Society welcomes singers of all ages and all voice parts. If you’re thinking about joining, the best way to see what we’re like is simply to come along to a rehearsal. You’ll find a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a warm welcome from the moment you arrive.

You are very welcome to attend as many rehearsals as you wish before deciding whether to apply. When you visit, you can join in with warm-ups and any repertoire we’re working on — or just sit and listen if you prefer.

No need to book: simply turn up. If you’d like us to expect you, email coordinator@halifaxchoral.org.

Do I Need to Read Music?

We sing in four-part harmony (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), so some familiarity with written music is helpful. But if your experience is limited or rusty, please don’t worry — you certainly won’t be alone! Many members build confidence quickly with support from their section and fellow singers.

There is no audition, but new members are required to undergo an informal voice check full of useful hints and tips to help you get the most out of singing in the choir.
