SUMMER 2025
Carmina Burana and Circlesong, with Black Dyke Band Percussion and Bradshaw Junior School
Join us for a night of pulsating, rhythmic music, reflecting on destiny and the circle of life.
Carmina Burana is one of the most dramatic works in the choral repertoire. It opens and closes with the
powerful and unforgettable O Fortuna. In between, 25 movements take the audience on a wild ride. The piece was composed in the 1930s and is based on a collection of medieval poetry dealing with fate, fortune and more. This will be a compelling performance featuring two pianists and six percussionists from the world-famous Black Dyke Band.
Before that we will present Circlesong; an imaginative choral piece by British composer Bob Chilcott, which uses indigenous North American poetry to explore the journey of human life, from birth to death. As well as pianos and percussion we are thrilled to be joined for this first half by a talented children’s choir from Bradshaw Primary School. Buy your tickets now for another unforgettable evening of music from Britain’s oldest choral society.
