Description: Shakespeare - and all that Jazz
Halifax Choral Society is thrilled to once again be taking part in the annual summer festival of arts and music hosted by Halifax Minster with a magical evening of jazz, folk songs, madrigals and a sprinkling of Shakespeare!
The concert will feature music by Bob Chilcott, "a contemporary hero of British choral music”, folk songs from around Britain arranged by Guy Turner and some surprises as well! We will be conducted by Anthony Gray and accompanied by The Halifax Jazz Trio.
Anthony Gray says: "It has been a great experience introducing Halifax Choral Society to the world of choral jazz. I’m really looking forward to showcasing a different side to the singing abilities of this wonderful choir.”
Philip Voldman, our fabulous pianist, who is American by birth,  says: "Any choir worth their salt not only does the standard choral repertoire, but also lets their hair down and does Jazz! The music requires real focus and rigour, just as much as the standard classical repertoire. It's always a pleasure when a choir really gets into the groove!"
Bring the family FREE! Under 18s accompanied by an adult will be admitted free on the door.
